Burung Mandi, is the name of a mountain in the Northeast of Belitung, about 18km west of the second largest city of Manggar. Burung Mandi is a major tourist destination for the people of Manggar and its surroundings. This place has been known since the Dutch first established a tin mining center in Damar village, the closest village to Burung Mandi.
MEPAYA LAKE
There are hundreds of lakes in East Belitung, but Lake Mempaya is one of the largest. This lake is located on the opposite side of the Burung Mandi mountain facing the beach. The view is great, with Burung Mandi mountain in the background. Please note, Mempaya lake is still not a common holiday destination, there are no tourist facilities in this place. We only recommend this place to visitors who are interested in photography.
VIHARA.
This place is known as the biggest Kong Fu Chu place of worship in Belitung, built on the slopes of Burung Mandi mountain. From this place, you can see the open sea around Burung Mandi beach. In every February this place is packed with pilgrims to worship in commemoration of the Chinese New Year. Although this place is a religious place, visitors can come anytime for sightseeing.
HILL OF STONE
This is Burung Mandi beach to the east, a beach on a hillside. There is not much white sand, but the hilly contours of the beach make this place unique. Bukit Batu was built by the first regent of East Belitung, Basuki T Purnama in 2004. Visitors can find a good restaurant with toilet and bathroom facilities as well as 2 bungalows built right on the beach side to enjoy the surrounding scenery. Bukit Batu is only 2km from Burung Mandi beach.
In the background you can see the Mount Burung Mandi. This makes this beach different, because here is the only Belitung beach that has a mountain as a backdrop. The distance of Burung Mandi to the airport is approximately 70km, can be reached in one hour. There are no hotels around this place, the nearest town is Manggar, 18km away.
If you want to go to the Burung Mandi area, we recommend traveling in the morning especially if you expect to see the sunset, because you will never find a beautiful sunset here, all the beaches are facing to the East. Almost all visitors come to Burung Mandi at the same time as visiting Manggar, the second city in Belitung. Manggar was once the center of activity for a tin mining company founded by the Dutch. There are several interesting places in Manggar such as Bukit Samak and Serdang Beach. You can also find quite good hotels and restaurants in Manggar.
Bathing Bird Beach. This is a white sandy beach like most Belitung beaches, but uniquely you will not find a single granite rock on this beach except for only white sand along the beach and hundreds of sea pine trees that are the barrier between the beach and the mainland.
