The name Memaya itself is taken from the name of the village where the lake is located. Some community members themselves are actually more familiar with the term "Kolong" to refer to this lake. "Kolong" itself means the former pit of a mining quarry which was left without reclamation. This lake area is indeed broad and even the most extensive among the lakes in East Belitung. Not only presents traces of former mining excavations, but Lake Mempaya also presents a beautiful panorama.
