As a historic beach, Olie Pier Beach will surely leave a mark on the hearts of the people of East Belitung. In the past when the East Belitung region was still active as a tin mine, this beach was very busy with tin transport vessels. Now with this history Olie Pier Beach will make your vacation more memorable.
The name Olie Pier is taken from Dutch which consists of two words namely Olie which means oil and Pier which has a port. So the meaning of Olie Pier is Oil Port. In ancient times around the Olie Pier Beach there was indeed a pier or port that was built and founded by a Dutch company called NV Billiton Maatschappij. The company itself does have a role to supply fuel oil to meet the needs of tin mining, vehicles and offices. Because at this beach there is a port or oil dock, the beach area is then known as Olie Pier Beach.
Because it functions as an oil pier, the port here then also acts as a refueling station for tin-stealing vessels of its time. But unfortunately the fate of the Port of Olie Pier has now ended along with the bankruptcy of PT Timah. Even so, the remains of this jetty can still be seen from the 200 meter long wooden bridge that jutted into the sea and hidden its end behind a bush. The condition of the bridge itself is fairly weathered and has changed its function as a fishing spot. Located on Olie Pier Beach, you can also find beautiful sunrises. From the beautiful panorama that is here then the Olie Pier Beach will be very appropriate as a photography spot.
