This is the biggest cultural and arts event ever held in Belitung with the Jakarta Gihon Jazz Band from Jakarta featuring KAWU MEDA, and the colossal dance "PENDULANG TIMAH" by 700 dancers. This event will be held in the city of Tanjungpandan on June 21, 2014 at 08.00 - 24.00.
The grand event of the Laskar Pelangi II Festival was finally held on June 21, 2014 at the Tugu Satam Roundabout in the center of Tanjungpandan Belitung city. The event was enlivened by a performance of traditional Belitung art from various art studios and secondary schools in Belitung. The highlight of the event was enlivened by Andrea Hirata's colossal Pendulang Tin dance.
The tin miners dance tells the dark days of tin mining in Belitung in the past where Belitung tin workers got the smallest portion of the wealth of mines on the island. The tin miner dance is performed by 700 high school students dressed in white and colorful chalk.
In the evening the event was enlivened by a musical performance of Jazz and Poetry. The theme of the Laskar Pelangi festival this time indeed raised Poetry & Jazz 3 as well as a continuation of Poetry & Jazz 1 and 2 which were held on a smaller scale at KV Senang Belitung. The highlight of the evening was enlivened by the performances of Meda Kawu and Gihon Jazz Band, with main star Andrea Hirata. Japanese artist Hiroaki Kato was also featured in the performance tonight. Several local Belitung Jazz music groups also performed, not least with group performances from outside Belitung. This event was witnessed by thousands of spectators including tourists and residents of Bangka Belitung.
The Laskar Pelangi Festival 2010, which took place from 1-30 November 2010, was completed successfully and with a great fanfare in the village of Linggang, Gantong, East Belitung. This is the biggest cultural event ever held in Belitung and is also the longest cultural festival ever held in the country.
The Laskar Pelangi Festival, whose idea was coined by Andrea Hirata, aims to preserve the spirit and moral values ordered in Laksr Pelangi's novels and films, as well as to become a place to preserve Belitung's literature, culture and arts by involving the community to play a role and look for opportunities in the sector Belitung tourism is indeed growing rapidly since the Laskar Pelangi novels and films are known to many people in the country to foreign countries.
Andrea Hirata's big idea was welcomed by all circles from the government, artists, artists, business people to the community from inside and outside Belitung, including tourists who made the Laskar Pelangi Festival a unique tourist destination.
There are approximately 1,700 tourists who come to this event for a whole month and are covered by 30 local and national media. During the Festival which lasted for almost a month, the location of the festival was enlivened by a variety of traditional Belitung coffee shops, souvenir shops and souvenirs and art workshops of several Belitong artists such as Mansyur, Wanto, and others. No less, the community of onthel and Vespa bicycle enthusiasts also enlivened the climax of the carnival on November 27, 2010.
The Laskar Pelangi Festival is a People's Festival. The event was commanded by Pak Lurah Fakhrur Rizal, Linggang village head as chair of the committee assisted by a professional team from Andrea Hirata's management. The village committee succeeded in producing work in the form of a national-scale festival by involving the wider community from various circles. With a strong enthusiasm, the committee succeeded in building various facilities, starting from the Malay-style stage, to the construction of the new location of Kampong Laskar Pelangi, a unique area where the replica of the sloping Laskar Pelangi school was rebuilt on a hilltop in the middle of the savanna on the banks of the Linggang river .
Apart from all the successes and awards received by various parties, the most important success of the Laskar Pelangi Festival is the Belitung community's own recognition of the rich arts and culture of Belitung to participate in the advancement of tourism, by taking the Laskar Pelangi moment as a regional promotional asset that hopefully can advancing Belitung in the future.
