This condition is considered not much different from the Maldives, an island nation in the Indian Ocean. Even the Indonesian Minister of Tourism, Arief Yahya, reportedly declared Belitung as the Indonesian Maldives. This declaration also brought the Chairman of the PPP DPP, Romahurmuziy, to come to Belitung last weekend.
"I deliberately went to Belitung first because I was interested in the declaration of Belitung as the Maldives of Indonesia by the Minister of Tourism. So I had to see it firsthand," Romahurmuziy said when met in the Tanjungpendam Coastal tourist area.
Together with about 40 other PPP DPP daily management, Romahurmuziy enjoyed the beauty of Belitung Island. Some tourist sites such as Bird Island, Lengkuas Island, Kepayang Island, Tanjungtinggi Beach and Tanjung Kelayang Beach spoil the visions of the PPP management.
Even Romahurmuziy and some of his colleagues took time to play at Tanjung Kelayang Beach, Sijuk. Jet Sky became its iron horse crossing the clear sea along the coast. Snorkeling is also done to enjoy the beauty of the underwater at several spots around Lengkuas Island.
Romahurmuziy acknowledged that Belitung has tremendous potential in the tourism sector. Even some important items have supported tourism activities, including the friendliness of the people and the road infrastructure in Belitung.
"In my opinion, it has begun to stretch, the people have also begun to prepare themselves for it. The point is hospitality. It means that hospitality is for people to receive tourists," said Romahurmuziy. (*)
