The history of Dul Mulok's emergence of art began in the 1940s from the idea of Tok Juhek, a clever man in Besaer. Tok Juhek is very very fluent and proficient in big business. Until then he wanted to pour syaer contents into a drama. Tok Juhek then invited his relatives and friends to submit the idea. The idea of Tok Juhek turned out to be enthusiastically welcomed by these relatives and friends. After that Tok Juhek and his brother trained the players, who originally numbered 60 people. Meanwhile the first story that was told was the story of Abdul Mulok. Now from the name of this first story then the art that originated by Tok Juhek was called Dul Mulok.

After Tok Juhek, Dul Mulok's art was developed by Kek Lang and Kek Narek who are children of Tok Juhek. Kek Lang is developing Dul Mulok in Parang Bulo Village while Kek Narek is developing Dul Mulok in Kembiri Village. This Kembiri village later became the origin of the Dul Mulok art performance that was staged.

To perform Dul Mulok, the story must be chosen first. Some of the stories that are commonly played in Dul Mulok are taken from several old poems such as Syaer Abdul Mulok, Syaer Juragan Budiman, Syaer Mabi and Syaer Siti Zubaida. Some stories about the kingdom in Belitung are also often displayed in Dul Mulok performances. But in order to attract the audience, it is recommended to combine the existing story with comedy spices so that the audience is entertained.

After choosing poetry, other things that need to be prepared to perform Dul Mulok are musical instruments such as the drum or long gong (one piece), violin or piul (one piece). Later, the Dul Mulok music player will accompany the show backstage. Meanwhile, the clothes worn by Dul Mulok players are traditional clothing in the form of sarong and cap for male players and kebaya for female players. When the show starts, the Dul Mulok players will be exchanging comedy or comedy dialogues accompanied by several expressions that make the audience laugh. So lively is Dul Mulok's art that it can even beat entertainment broadcasts on television.
